The Royal Event: Princess Charlene Wears Ralph Lauren to The Rose Ball 2013

At this very moment the Monegasque Royals are dancing the night away at the Sporting Club in Monte-Carlo as they are attending the Bal de la Rose. This year they're celebrating 150 years of The Société des Bains de Mer (SBM) and the theme which was chosen by Karl Lagerfeld is Belle Pop (a mash up of Belle Epoque and modern Pop), So let's see the sartorial side of the story!

This year Princess Charlene followed the theme and chose a weird white gown with a biker jacket!

And mind you, she has listened to your suggestions about wearing jewellery and wore all the jewels she could find on her way... but just before you get too excited, they're actually beads beaded extensively on the top part of the gown.

The gown is costum made Ralph Lauren Collection based on many of RL creations as you can see in the picture below (taken from the last few seasons), this isn't the first time Charlene wears a Ralph Lauren dress (remember her gown from Princess Grace awards?) however, it's her first time to wear a costum made piece and to the Rose Ball.

Ralph Lauren Collection dresses

Following the theme, Charlene arrived covering her chandelier-like dress with the Leather Davidson Jacket from Ralph Lauren Collection in cream, you can buy the jacket in black from Stylebop for 1995€ as it's now marked down from 3990€. the jacket is described as:
list iconThe ultimate investment piece, this biker-styled leather jacket from Ralph Lauren Collection adds edgy-cool appeal to any look
list iconClassic motorcycle styling, spread collar with snaps, epaulets, long sleeves, zip pockets and cuffs, belted waist, cropped silhouette
list iconWear with high-waisted skinnies and a fitted top or a mini dress and heels
Material: 100%Calf Leather

Charlene Von Monaco had some dramatic makeup and a retro -full of gel- hairstyle, also her earrings are heart-shaped and they're new!

While I appreciate that she always follows the theme, I really can't make up my mind about this look, I mean, I love the idea of the jacket and it reminds me of Sarah Jessica Parkers black biker jacket over the pink Oscar de la Renta beaded dress, and I adore the beads in Charlene's dress, but the beading is kind of overwhelming and that choker-like thing is looking weird in photos (I'm sure it looks FAB in real, though). so it's your call, love it or hate it?

Arriving with Princesse Charlene de Monaco and Prince Albert was the new royal grandma, Princess Caroline of Hanover who was seated next to her friend, designer Karl Lagerfeld.

Caroline wore a Chanel Fall 2012 Couture gown and accessorized it with round earrings and a necklace with a heart-shaped pendant, typical Caro, me thinks.

Also in Presence was Charlotte Casiraghi who was also dressed in Chanel Couture, just like her mum and just like last year, but this year Charlotte brought her beau, Gad ElMaleh with her and this counts as the first official engagement they attend together!

Charlotte's dress comes from the Spring 2013 collection, and yes being friends with uncle Karl has its perks!

While I prefer Charlotte's shoe-choice to that sad pair of boots above, I still find it a really bad choice on such a delicate dress and feminine look with very soft makeup (not to forget the gorgeous jewelery)!

As you can see it seems that Charlotte has cut her hair, I love it like that and I love her for leaving that cape from the runway look at Karl's atelier!

Which is your favorite look from these looks?

P.s: Will add more photos of other royal guests once they're available.

I like the dress, but I think Rania could have done better with it, the whole look is okay but it could have been amazing with a different coat and bag!

In the evening King Abdullah and Queen Rania attended the official dinner.
Queen Rania wore a white blouse with green leaf embroidery and a green skirt with a belt, all by Oscar de la Renta!

The blouse and skirt are costum made as the original outfit has short sleeves and knee-length skirt.

The skirt that retails for $890 is describes as:
  • Silk crepe.
  • High waist.
  • Slim skirt falls straight.
  • Hem hits just past the knee.
  • Made in Italy.
While the blouse which retails for $1190 as:
  • Leaf and floral embroidered silk.
  • Ruffled mock neckline.
  • Puffed shoulders.
  • Short sleeves.
  • Darted waist.
  • Hem hits past hips.
  • Made in USA of imported materials.
the belt is sold separately for $590

Rania finished her look with a brown clutch and a pair of brown shoes.

This look is my favorite from all the recent appearances!

the next day Rania ended the visit wearing an outfit by Phillip Lim.

The outfit is based on these two pieces:

I really hope it's an over-the-shelf outfit and not costum made, cause it really is not that cool!

On march 12th Queen Rania met Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall in Jordan.

For this engagement Queen Rania wore a white and blue Antonio Berardi dress, Rania's dress is costum made, her version is longer with long sleeves and a belt.

The original version was available on LuisaViaRoma for $1447 but is now sold out!

The Queen teamed her dress with the Leather Betty bag from Saint Laurent Paris which you can purchase from HERE for £971 (around $1464) from Matchesfashion.
The bag is described as:
Perfect your polished evening look with Saint Laurent’s leather Betty bag. This stunningly simple piece with classic gold chain embodies the label’s new covetable aesthetic.
Rania of Jordan finished her look with the Elizabeth Leather pumps. These pumps are available on Saks Fifth Avenue at the price of $575, and they're described as:

Leather mid-heel pump with a thin horsebit and interlocking G detail on the back heel.
  • Self-covered heel, 3¼" (80mm)
  • Leather upper
  • Leather lining and sole
  • Padded insole
  • Made in Italy

The color combination of this outfit wasn't approved by many, especially with the brown pumps, but for me, I'd pick the brown shoes over black ones that would have been too flashy!

Rania ended her week of extensive appearances with a dinner for Prince Charles and Duchess Camilla.
Queen Rania wear Gucci

Queen Rania wore a Gucci dress from the pre-fall 2012 collection, the dress is available on Saks Fifth Avenue for $1160 after being marked down from $2900, the dress is described on the website as:

A pleated colorblock dress, accented with a dragonfly belt.
  • Jewel neckline
  • Pleated bodice
  • Pleated long sleeves
  • Included dragonfly belt
  • Concealed back zip
  • 49% viscose/48% acetate/3% elastane
  • Dry clean
  • Made in Italy

As you can see the queen did not wear the belt that comes with the dress, instead she wore a wider one, and the same Gucci pumps from earlier that day!

Although I'm a Gucci fan and I really loved this collection, I think Rania could have chosen something that would suit her skin tone better!

Worn in Week: Catching up with Charlene

Firstly I apologize for not being around as often as I should, but I've been suffering from a bad/no connection for a while now, I guess my DSL isn't so royal after all!

So while I was connection-less, Charlene was being busy going all around Europe!

One day before attending the Armani Fall 2013 fashion show in Milan, Charlene was in London with Prince Albert attending the Six Nations rugby match between England and France at Twickenham Stadium.

Princess Charlene of Monaco wore a black outfit with a leopard blouse and a matching scarf, probably by Louis Vuitton and a black coat that I'm sure she wore before but I don't remember when!

Most of Charlene and Albert's followers know that they both are football enthusiasts.

On the first of March, Prince Albert and Princess Charlene attended  the St David’s Day charity dinner at Hotel de Paris in Monte Carlo.

The event was organized by the Monaco Wales Association, hence Albert's tie, also in attendance was Dame Shirley.

Charlene's outfit caused quite a debate, since Charlene von Monaco was at Armani's show in Milan many thought it was by designed by him, specially as the outfit resembles the outfit Princess Charlene wore when she received the Croatian president in the Palace in 2011.

Going back to 2011 this outfit was thought to be Charlene's wedding brunch outfit that she did not wear to the brunch, designed by Armani Privé, but the dress was described on the wedding website as:
Strapless cocktail dress by Giorgio Armani Privé in silk satin duchesse in bright green colour. Pleat detail on the bodice and skirt.
Since this dress is not made of silk satin duchesse -which is shiny-, then we now know that it's not the brunch's dress which is still unworn!

The dress is most probably by Akris

On the left we see Princesse Charlene de Monaco wearing an Akris dress few weeks after receiving the president at the palace (note the green colour), in the middle is a tiered Akris top which you can by from HERE, and on the right is Charlene's mystery dress number one, with frills just like Charlene's grey gown so we can assume they're by the same designer!

I think from the photo of Char with Dame Shirley that the outfit is actually a top and a skirt, below a close up on the makeup and diamond stud earrings.

Princess Charlene wearing diamond stud earrings
Charlene teamed her dress/separates with a Dior clutch and the beige/gray Walter Steiger pumps she's worn few times, Also when she arrived, Charlene was wearing the black coat she wore to the Circus Festival Awards Ceremony last January.

Finally on March the 4th, Prince Albert accompanied by Princess Charlene, Princess Caroline and Pierre Casiraghi went to French Nice to attend the presentation of their new plane, "Falcon 7X".

Princess Caroline looks amazing here!

Princess Charlene wore the same old, same old black skinny pants, black turtleneck top and the scarf we have seen a lot lately (she wore it while leaving Milan too), but this time she added a new Akris bag and Versace boots along with her best black coat EVER that the last time we have seen it was last year!

This coat is probably by Akris too, as it was seen for the first time in Ireland's state visit in 2010 and Akris designed the whole wardrobe for the visit!

Which was your favorite appearance?
