Princess Charlene Jewelry-Pedia: Mark Gold Jewels

In July 2011, the new princess Charlene attended her wedding reception at the Oyster Box in Durban.

Open the photo in a new tab for the full-size.

For the occasion Charlene wore a custom Terrence gown (that we will discuss later) paired with a set of modern jewels.

The set was created especially by South African jeweler, Mark Gold.

The earrings are "made of Black Rhodium plated 18ct White Gold, black diamonds, purple amethyst and Briole cut black onyx".

The ring is made of black diamonds and an amethyst. The contemporary jewels were handmade and took about 3 weeks to manufacture.

This lovely set is now on display in Mark Gold's store in Durban. And though it was only a loan to the princess, it's not for sale.

I have to say I was a bit sad when I knew that Princess Charlene doesn't own these earrings and ring, especially, since the color of these amethysts really suits her, but then I thought that more people get to see these delightful jewels than we'll ever do with Charlene, No?

So tell me, what do you this of this Mark Gold jewelry?

Princess Charlene's Jewelry at the Red Cross Gala 2014!

This blog was started as a place to follow royals and their fashion and style history, but I've been learning a lot of blogging lessons from it. Take the Red Cross Gala as an example:

Lesson 1: Don't trust the tags on Getty:

Getty tagged Van Cleef and Arpels, for no reason obviously since the headband looked like a Graff creation, a thought that I've expressed on Twitter shortly after I wrote that the jewelry might have been VCA on the post.

Princess Charlene wearing Graff headband and Earrings

Charlene was, like many have thought, wearing the Flower-Motif Alice band from Graff. The headband weighs 16.47 carats of diamonds.

Charlene's earrings were officially described by Graff as " Round and pear shape diamond drop earrings" and weigh 11.22 carats.

The bracelet however is NOT from Graff. Not from Van Cleef and Arpels either, nor Repossi. So the second lesson I've learned after Googling "Diamond bracelet" and checking each jewelry website and every jeweler's Instagram account is to learn to give up sometimes on knowing something that even the Palace's spokesperson doesn't know!

Yet again, we knew about the Graff thing before the palace did, so maybe one of you would recall seeing this bracelet somewhere(?). Char also wore her Repossi engagement ring.

I don't remember seeing Charlene wearing all this jewelry at once before. And while I absolutely love that she went for some extra bling, I have to wonder if being a future mother has anything to do with this decision. I also have to wonder how her look would have been like had she worn a back necklace!

One last note; Pablo Ardizzone, Charlene's go-to makeup artist, did not do her makeup this time, I'm yet to know if Stephane Madinier did her hair.

So, do you think we'll see any of these jewels again on Charlene?

Princess Charlene in Dior to the Red Cross Ball 2014

Prince Albert took pregnant Princess Charlene out tonight to one of Monaco's most important events; the Red Cross Ball.

And just like her late mother in law, Princess Charlene chose Dior to design her a maternity gown.

I still don't have an official description of the dress, but it seems to be made of blue silk taffeta with a draped black back that cascades diagonally from the armholes and the shoulders to reveal the back of the princess and continue to make a train.

I can't decide yet if this counts as a tent dress or not, in some photos it looks almost figure-hugging, in others it looks pretty tent-y!

Charlene accessorized her look with silver Dior pumps.

Char's choice for Dior makes a lot of sense. Not only is the house a favorite of her and the family over the years, but it also has recently signed a 3-year partnership agreement with the Princess Grace Foundation (more about that on Vogue).
As for the jewelry, Charlene has worn a new diamond flower headband and a pair of earrings.

And also a new diamond bracelet. The jewelry is most probably from Van Cleef and Arpels, but the Palace is yet to confirm that.

UPDATE: The earrings and headband are by Graff, read more HERE!

I will be updating this post with the description of the gown along with the official IDs for the jewelry and HQ photos.Meanwhile:

Do you like this maternity gown on Princess Charlene?
