Princess Charlene in Akris for the Annual Picnic 2014

It’s not a maternity dress for Charlene at the Pique Nique this year in Monaco. The princess attended with Prince Albert and Elizabeth-Ann de Massy. You may remember that Char wore a version of the national costume last year, it was made by the Palace’s seamstresses.

This year, SAS la Princesse Charlene opted for a navy blue sleeveless dress from Akris. The dress is made of cotton popeline and features a self-belt with Ai buckle. Keeping it versatile, the collar of this frock is detachable. As stated above, this is a regular boutique dress, it wasn’t custom-made for Char!

Charlene paired her dress with Walter Steiger ballet flats, her engagement ring and the go-to pearl stud earrings which I think I’m very close to finally identifying them!

Do you think Charlene should switch to maternity clothes already?

  1. She may not have a need for specific maternity wear at this point, but this dress is certainly ill-fitting across the bodice. Maybe pret-a-porter but it needs altering before seeing cameras again. Otherwise, her usual meh, such a boring sartorial failure in most outings (some of her evening wear has been spectacular -the red dress in Germany, the purple wavy concoction).

  2. she may wear normal clothes for as long as it fits. for a first pregnancy she may carry small for quite a while. ( speaking from experience)
She does look lovely. such a soft and shy person. really beautiful

  3. That color is stunning on her!! Being a blonde myself, navy blue is always a great choice.
